A great find, brand-new to the 2023 rental market! Lovely old house cleverly renovated to offer spacious accommodation right in the centre of beautiful, characterful Vézénobres. Vézénobres is a 'perched village' with views across the vale of the Rhône and a good choice of restaurants niched in its ancient stone walls. The Swift's Return has arguably the biggest garden in Vézénobres. and stunning views towards the Cévennes and Nîmes. Saltwater pool. Air conditioning throughout. 3 en suite bedrooms. Pets allowed on request.

Vézénobres is a small but very pretty village that seems to be almost unchanged since medieval times. An exploratory stroll down the tiny rues and ruelles of Vézénobres is to walk back in time. The village is also home to a number of artists and artisans who keep the old crafts alive within a contemporary setting. The Swift's Return is unusually and eclectically furnished. This is not a 'standard' villa, and that is part of its attraction. But attention to detail and design elevate this property above the norm. A lovely pool area and air conditioning throughout mean that living in a medieval village does not have to mean suffering a medieval lifestyle! I really liked this house and can happily recommend it.
About The Swift's Return
This lovely old house is a great find! Cleverly renovated using natural materials of stone, lime and wood and offering spacious accommodation with arguably the biggest garden in Vézénobres, this is a luxury property with a touch of 'boho chic'. The owners approached the renovation with aesthetic vision and have achieved a successful blend of Georgian London Townhouse with Medieval Mediterranean Villa.
Each bedroom has its en suite bathroom and the entire house is air conditioned.
Enter into the spacious kitchen with large marble-topped central island and separate dining area. There is a double stove with three ovens, butler sink, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, DeLonghi coffee machine etc.
Move through to the living room with open fire and Smart TV. This room accesses the terrace which has dining for 8 guests and a large barbecue. The stonework for which Vézénobres is well-known is very much in evidence here. The arches beside the terrace were built at least 350 years ago, possibly more.
Then up some steps (stone, of course!) to the garden and pool area. Here you can relax in the shade of the plum trees and enjoy the views across the viilage rooftops. What will strike you here is the quiet! It may be the centre of the village but you will hardly hear anything beyond the twittering of the swallows.
On the top floor is an office located in the renovated pigeon-tower, with a convertible bed for additional guests. The pigeon-tower has stupendous 360° views of the village, the surrounding countryside, and out to the Cevennes. This would make a superb spot for working on your great novel, teenagers to hang out in, or simply a bit of quiet relaxation with a gentle Provencal breeze wafting through the windows.
Vézénobres is a 'destination' village, well worth a visit in its own right as it is 'classé'. The centre of the medieval village is winding streets and all the houses are built of the same stone, creating a beautiful, harmonious and ancient effect.
The Swift's Return is just a couple of minutes' walk from some good restaurants and the village also benefits from a bar/café, a snack bar and pharmacy. There is a bakery 600m away, which also sells basic groceries (milk, eggs, juice, wine)
